Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking an Electrical Harness Internship to contribute to the design, development, and integration of high-reliability harness systems for defense hardware. Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate and integrate harness systems; represent the harness discipline on a project.
  • Investigate, plan, design and develop harnesses to meet requirements.
  • Research, select and procure connectors, back-shells, contacts, wire, shielding, and cable construction for the product to meet environmental requirements.
  • Develop harness system diagrams and wire diagrams for production release.
  • Participate in design reviews and drive design decisions.
  • Prepare harness assembly instructions and test procedures, incorporating industry standards and best practices.
  • Guide electrical team on system requirements from stakeholders including engineering, product management, quality and compliance.
  • Support multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with harness manufacturers to deliver high quality, reliable products.
  • Own end-to-end wiring and interconnect systems, including power distribution, grounding, shielding, and signal integrity.
  • Ensure designs meet voltage, current, bandwidth, redundancy, EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Perform electrical trade studies for wire gauge, shielding, connector selection, and topology.
  • Analyze and mitigate EMI, voltage drop, crosstalk, and thermal effects.
  • Apply SWaP considerations for power, network and communications systems.
  • Deliverables: working script and a short technical note on protocol behavior/edge cases.
  • Projects are program-focused and not a limit on scope.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide the engineering expertise to design, fabricate and integrate harnesses systems and represent the harness discipline on a project
  • Investigate, plan, design and develop harnesses to meet various technical requirements
  • Research, select and procure appropriate connectors, back-shells, contacts, wire, shielding, and cable construction for the product to meet appropriate environmental requirements
  • Develop and generate harness system block diagrams and wire diagrams to release for production
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input to identify issues and drive design choices
  • Prepare harness assembly instructions and test procedures, incorporating your knowledge of industry standards and best practices
  • Provide guidance to the electrical team in identifying electrical system requirements given input from internal and external stakeholders including engineering (mechanical, electrical, software), product management, quality and compliance
  • Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, active deployments, and customer operated hardware
  • Concurrently manage involvement in multiple projects at various stages
  • Experience working directly with harness manufacturers to deliver high quality, high reliability products
  • Own end-to-end of the electrical wiring and interconnect system, including power distribution, grounding, shielding, and signal integrity
  • Ensure the design meets system-level electrical requirements for voltage, current, bandwidth, redundancy, EMI/EMC
  • Perform electrical trade studies for wire gauge, shielding, connector selection, and topology
  • Analyze and mitigate electrical risks such as voltage drop, crosstalk, EMI susceptibility, and thermal effects
  • Apply knowledge of SWaP for power, network and communications systems and designs
  • Deliverable: working script and a short technical note on protocol behavior/edge cases.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Must be returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on program.
  • Ability to complete an in-person 16-24 week internship in one of our offices in winter 2027.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Build 3D routed harness data files applying NX Cabling and Siemens Capital Harness
  • Experience with or proficient in 3D CAD wire harness routing using Siemens NX
  • Able to read and generate formboard drawings in 2D CAD for production (Siemens Capital)
  • Familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, RS422, RS232, 1553)
  • Familiarity with existing applicable harness standards as well as MIL-STD requirements
  • Experience reading wire block interconnect diagrams and wire diagrams
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Experienced and familiar with aircraft avionics module vendors and avionics component suppliers
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC principles

US Hourly Range

$34 - $50 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
