Reporting to the VP, East, the New York Market Manager will drive performance across the state of New York, with a specific focus on the Metro NY area. This role will be responsible for achieving sales goals through direct account management, distributor engagement, and execution of trade marketing initiatives in both the on- and off-premise channels. The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of the NY wine market, is passionate about premium wine, and thrives in a fast-paced, in-market sales environment.

Experience and Skill Base

  • Have a minimum of four years of experience in sales, preferably in the beverage alcohol industry, and a proven track record of results. Strong negotiation skills.
  • Manage and grow an assigned base of on- and off-premise accounts, including a focused group of key multi-unit customers (5 on-premise / 5 off-premise)
  • Deliver against sales KPIs tied to both individual account performance and broader state-level objectives
  • Execute strategic sales initiatives including precision selling, pre-sell planning, product allocations, and pricing management
  • Maintain a high level of visibility in the market—spending 4+ days per week in the field—conducting sales calls, staff trainings, and distributor work-withs
  • Drive distributor share-of-mind and engagement through GSM participation, sales blitzes (multiple per year), and ongoing education
  • Represent the company at key wine events, tastings, wine dinners, and trade shows throughout the year
  • Support new product introductions, seasonal programming, and brand building efforts in coordination with national and regional brand plans.
  • Utilize CRM tools to report on weekly activity, share market insights, and track performance against goals
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Area Managers, Brand Marketing, and National Accounts teams

Qualifications

  • BA or equivalent degree from accredited university or college
  • Knowledge and fluency with imported wines, with Iberian experience a plus
  • Desirable wine credentials include CMS, SWE, WSET certifications or equivalent
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PPT, CRM and Distributor Depletion Reporting Systems
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong distributor and customer relationships is a must
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • New York based with deep knowledge of key accounts and market dynamics
  • Must have valid drivers license and be able to lift a 12 bottle case of 750ml wine
