Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Systems Engineer Sr Principal to advanceDoD enclave environments. You will lead patching, configuration, and operations for Windows/AD, VMware, and enterprise storage, ensuring security, resilience, and compliance across critical workloads.

Role requires TS clearance, DoD 8570/8140 compliance, and onsite work in McLean, VA. You will collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams and contribute to ConMon artifacts and STIG documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
• 10+ years of related experience
• Experience administering Windows/Active Directory, VMware, enterprise storage
• Patching, hardening, STIG implementation, vulnerability remediation
• Installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise systems
• Troubleshooting complex system issues with cross-functional teams
• DoD 8140/8570.01-M compliant (Security+ or equivalent)
• Current and active Top Secret clearance
• Onsite - McLean, VA

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health, performance, availability, and capacity
• Collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams to design and sustain enclave systems
• Support Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) and STIG compliance
• Install, configure, test, and maintain OS, applications, and security solutions
• Prepare and maintain docs for systems engineering processes
• Evolve enclave capabilities in line with DoD/IC requirements

As a Systems Engineer Sr Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customer’s classified environment. You will play a crucial role in engineering, operating, and securing a classified Windows-based secure enclave, ensuring highly available, resilient, and compliant systems that support mission-critical workloads.

KEY DUTIES

• Lead and support patching, maintenance, and O&M of enclaveservers, storage, VMware, and Windows/Active Directory, ensuring stability and security.
• Monitor and maintain system health, performance, availability, and capacity across all assigned systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams to design, build, configure, and sustain enclave systems, and provide advanced systems engineering expertise from planning through sustainment.
• SupportContinuous Monitoring (ConMon), includingSTIG compliance, vulnerability remediation, security application administration, and annual assessment activities.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, applications, management tools, and security solutions, providing robust approaches forsecurity, backup, restoration, redundancy, and continuity.
• UtilizeWindows/Active Directory, VMware, enterprise storage, backup/recovery, and security tools to operate and evolve enclave capabilities in alignment withDoD and ICrequirements.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for systems engineering processes, procedures, configurations, and projects, and help drive process and tooling improvements based on emerging technologies.

• Experience: 10+ years of related experience
• Technical skills:
  • Administering and maintainingWindows/Active Directory,VMware, andenterprise storage
  • Patching, hardening, STIG implementation, andvulnerability remediation
  • Installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintainingenterprise systems, includingbackup and recovery
  • Troubleshooting complex system issues and working withcross-functional engineering and cybersecurity teams
  • Contributing toConMon artifacts, STIG checklists, and assessment documentation
  • Supportingsecure enclave, hybrid, or virtualized environments
  • Familiarity withDoDorIntelligence Communitysystems engineering, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements
• Role requirements:
  • Security clearance level: Current and active Top Secret
  • Onsite - Mclean, VA
  • Must be DoD 8140 / 8570.01-M compliant (e.g., Security+ or equivalent)
