Overview

GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled Windows System Administrator to support the management and maintenance of the Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring optimal performance and security, and executing scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to design, maintain, and optimize server environments in alignment with customer requirements. This is a fully remote position located within the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively monitors system performance, diagnoses issues, and implements innovative solutions to enhance reliability and security.
  • Ensures rigorous security compliance by overseeing access controls, backups, and firewall management.
  • Leads the administration of network servers and technology tools, driving continuous improvement and scalability.
  • Establishes and configures user accounts and workstations to support seamless organizational productivity.
  • Executes system upgrades, deploying new releases and tools to maintain cutting-edge technology standards.
  • Maintains detailed internal documentation of system configurations and policies to ensure clarity, consistency, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field with 1-2 years of relevant experience (preferably in application support or development).
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
Clearance Required

Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust clearance.

Salary and Benefits

The posted pay range is USD $120,000 - $130,000 per year. The actual offer may vary based on factors like experience, skills, and location. The total compensation may include additional elements, to be discussed during hiring. Employment is at-will, and GovCIO reserves the right to modify compensation at any time.
