You will design, build, and maintain automation frameworks that implement security-driven changes across Windows servers, workstations, and Active Directory, translating security intent into scalable tasks with close collaboration with cybersecurity and AD platform teams.

Qualifications

• Active Directory, Windows Server and PowerShell knowledge is required.
• Group Policy internals and management tools experience is expected.
• Experience with Windows client/server internals and AD replication.
• Familiarity with configuration management and code reviews is beneficial.
• Automation and automated testing experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Automate GPO creation, modification, and rollback.
• Automate Windows and application patch deployment.
• Build guardrails to prevent unsafe deployments.
• Rapidly convert CVE guidance into deployable updates.

Job Title: Windows Server / PowerShell Engineer Consultant

Duration: 12 months with extension possible to 18 months

Pay Scale: $70-75/hr W2 (Cannot subcontract or C2C)

Job Description:

Matlen Silver has partnered with a leading global financial services firm to recruit a Windows Server Engineer with experience in PowerShell scripting that will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automation frameworks that implement security-driven configuration changes across Windows servers, workstations, and Active Directory infrastructure in response to common vulnerabilities and emergent threats. The engineer must translate security intent into repeatable automated tasks that can be deployed safely at scale. You will partner closely with cybersecurity teams to operationalize advisories and with Active Directory platform teams to ensure changes align with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

• Automating GPO creation, modification, and rollback Automating Windows and application patch deployment
• Building guardrails that prevent unsafe or partial deployments
• Rapidly converting CVE guidance into deployable updates within hours
• Supporting "break-glass" mitigation scenarios with pre-approved automation

Desired Experience:

• Active Directory, Windows Server, and PowerShell
• Group Policy internals and management tools
• Windows Server and Windows client internals
• Active Directory schema, security descriptors, and replication behavior
• Configuration management (SCCM)
• Git-based version control and code reviews
• Automated systems validation testing experience is a big plus
