Job summary

Malwarebytes is seeking a senior Windows Platform Architect to shape core Windows components, from kernel drivers to user-mode services, ensuring the product is fast, lightweight, and highly stable on millions of PCs.

This hands-on, non-manager role requires deep Windows internals expertise, strong C/C++ and C#/.NET performance skills, and experience with debugging tools. You will collaborate with global teams and mentor engineers while driving critical platform initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building software with emphasis on Windows internals.
• Hands-on kernel driver work including minifilters and the Windows driver model.
• Strong C and C++ skills; experience with C#/.NET performance.
• Experience with performance and debugging tools such as WinDbg, ETW, WPA, and PerfView.
• Experience shipping software that runs with high rights on a large number of PCs, where stability matters most.
• Clear writing and speaking, and a habit of sharing knowledge with others.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of core Windows components, from kernel drivers to user mode services.
• Make our product fast and light by reducing CPU and memory usage and startup time.
• Find and fix hard system issues using crash dumps, traces, and kernel debugging.
• Lead driver signing and certification work with Microsoft.
• Help resolve urgent issues during US hours, such as certificate signing or false positives.
• Review new Windows features and APIs and decide how to use them.
• Collaborate with Research to bring protection features down to the OS level.
• Use AI tools to speed up design, build, and test processes.
• Coach engineers on Windows internals and good design.
• Deliver clear gains in memory and CPU usage across our Windows product.
• Lead the design of at least one major driver or core component change.
• Be the go-to person for Windows platform issues during US hours.
