Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Windows Administrator, to create and maintain team technical instructions, operating procedures and policies as needed. This position will be located in Radford, VA and will be a remote position.

Responsibilities

This position is for a Senior Systems Administrator supporting the Windows team. This environment includes Windows 2019 and Windows 2022. The role will work with the existing Windows team to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot, and support servers for a mixed customer environment. The role will plan, execute, and implement new system hardware and software and create and maintain team technical instructions, operating procedures and policies. It will require monitoring and tuning system performance, ongoing operation of the servers, hardening of the servers and reporting of the overall security and operational status. The role will recommend improvements to the enterprise and manage new software/hardware integrations as needed, while providing utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions. It requires excellent communication and teamwork, and the ability to support the lifecycle of a mixed vendor equipment environment in the datacenter, including firmware version control and preventive maintenance. The role will also be able to recommend, demonstrate, and implement technologies to expand, upgrade, and increase efficiencies in the current environment.

Qualifications

High School diploma with 6 – 9 years of experience (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • CompTIA Security CE Certification (e.g., MCSE, Server, CCNA, RedHat, Palo, etc.); can be waived for 30 days after project join date
  • Experience in Computer Science or IT
  • 5 years’ experience as a Windows Systems Administrator or Engineer with 3 years’ experience automating tasks
  • 5 years’ installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex applications and websites (IIS, Apache, etc.)
  • 5 years’ experience in an environment with complex networking solutions and solid knowledge of networking principles
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP
  • Five or more years’ experience managing enterprise-level Active Directory structures
  • 5 years’ experience creating and maintaining complex Group Policy implementations
  • 5 years’ experience creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for repeatable processes, disaster recovery, and common problem resolution
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to be a team player

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science
  • 3 years’ experience supporting cybersecurity patch management and STIG, SRG, RMF, SCA-V, and CORA
