Overview

The 32BJ Training Fund, part of SEIU 32BJ, seeks qualified candidates to teach Window Cleaning & Scaffolding classes in Manhattan.

About Us

SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers throughout the New York City area and nine other East‑Coast states. Our mission is to educate every member with the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.

Who We’re Looking For

• Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings
• Teachers looking to empower workers through industry skills education

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement lesson plans aligned to the program curriculum, incorporating the provided educational materials
• Teach course content using a student‑centered teaching approach
• Maintain and submit attendance records
• Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor
• Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available

Qualifications

• Current 16‑hour DOB Scaffold Certificate and 32‑hour DOB Scaffold Certificate
• Current OSHA Construction or General Industry Teaching Certificate
• Experience in the window‑cleaning industry
• Previous teaching experience (preferred)
• Excellent technology skills, capable of using digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact with students from varied linguistic and cultural backgrounds

COVID‑19 Considerations

• Record of completed COVID‑19 vaccination or confirmed medical/religious exemption
• Compliance with the organization’s current COVID‑19 protocols

Class Schedule

• 2 mornings or 2 afternoons per week (TBD)
• Approximately 12 hours per week
