TOP - Wind Technician Level 1 Description

The Tech One Program (TOP) is a structured career development program for entry-level wind technicians, built in partnership with industry leaders Sky Climber Renewables and Vestas Americas.

Job Summary:

The TOP Wind Service Technicians will receive exclusive wind safety and technical training accredited through the Global Wind Organization (GWO). They will primarily work at a wind site near their home, on a service team to perform safe and efficient wind turbine maintenance. They report directly to the Program Manager and Site Manager, and indirectly to the Lead Technician during jobs. Responsibilities include performing all preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine generator equipment safely and efficiently. They maintain and repair machinery and components used in power generation, turbines, and generators, under supervision. They are not certified to work inside cabinets or controllers without direct supervision by a certified Electrical Technician. Additional duties may be assigned to meet customer needs and align with the company's mission and values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time
  • High School Diploma / GED and an Associate Degree in Mechanical or Wind Energy disciplines, or equivalent experience
  • Training including Basic Safety, Tower Safety, Mechanical/Electrical/ Hydraulic Technical Training, LOTO, and others, with successful completion
  • Background check and drug screening required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb 300-foot towers multiple times daily
  • Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Must meet weight requirements (250-300 lbs.) including PPE
  • Ability to handle repetitive weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Successful completion of climb tests and rescue training

  • Travel up to 25% as required
  • Work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Work at heights and in various weather conditions
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
