The Tech One Program (TOP) is a structured career development program for entry-level wind technicians, developed in partnership between industry leaders Sky Climber Renewables and Vestas Americas.

Job Summary:

The TOP Wind Service Technicians will undergo exclusive wind safety and technical training accredited by the Global Wind Organization (GWO). They will primarily work at a wind site near their home, on a service team to ensure safe and efficient wind turbine maintenance. They report directly to the Program Manager and Site Manager, and indirectly to the Lead Technician during jobs. Responsibilities include performing all preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine generator equipment safely and efficiently. They maintain and repair machinery used mainly in power generation, turbines, and generators, under supervision. They are not certified to work inside cabinets or controllers without direct supervision from a certified Electrical Technician. Additional duties may be assigned to meet customer needs and align with Sky Climber’s mission and values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Authorized to work full-time in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma / GED and an Associate Degree in Mechanical or Wind Energy from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.
  • Training includes: Basic Safety (First Aid, CPR, Fall Protection), Tower Safety (High-angle rescue), Technical (Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic), LOTO, and other required training. Must pass background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements:

  • Climb wind towers up to 300 feet multiple times daily
  • Work at heights, including emergency repelling
  • Meet weight requirements for tower ladders (250-300 lbs.) including PPE
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Move throughout the site; repetitive motions involved
  • Occasional kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, standing, bending
  • Handle repetitive weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Complete climb and rescue training successfully.
Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades
  • Ensure work complies with customer requirements

  • Repair or replace parts
  • Use tools safely and knowledgeably
  • Work independently on maintenance projects
  • Dismantle and assemble machinery and components
  • Travel as required (up to 25%)
  • Work holidays, weekends, overtime as needed
  • Work at heights and in all weather conditions
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
