POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of wind turbines. It involves extensive travel throughout the US. The candidate must prioritize safety and ensure the job is done correctly the first time.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
- Work in and around wind turbines, including climbing towers daily.
- Interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Prioritize safety at all times.
- Install, inspect, maintain, operate, and repair wind turbines.
- Diagnose and resolve issues to prevent unexpected shutdowns or malfunctions.
- Perform routine maintenance and test electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctions.
- Service underground transmission systems, substations, and fiber optic systems.
- Replace worn or malfunctioning components.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active or ability to obtain a TWIC card.
- Technical degree or certificate in wind energy or related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience in wind turbine troubleshooting and maintenance or relevant wind energy education.
- Experience with basic power and hydraulic tools.
- Valid Driver's License; CDL preferred.
PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Commitment to health and safety, following Zero Injury principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and manuals.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with managers, clients, and the public.
- Basic math skills and understanding of instructions in various formats.
- Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables.
- Proficiency with hydraulic tools and understanding of rotor safety procedures.
- Knowledge of using internal chain hoist.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with internet-based programs.
- Ability to read drawings and schematics.
- Physical ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 125 meters.
- Capability to work in demanding weather conditions.
- Maintain necessary certifications such as First Aid/CPR, Tower Climb and Rescue, LOTO, Arc Flash.
- Comfort working remotely and as part of a team with limited supervision.
