Job summary

Beyond New Horizons is seeking a Controls Engineer to sustain and improve wind tunnel facilities at AEDC Tunnel 9 in Silver Spring, MD. You’ll work on electrical machinery, control systems, and safety-focused process controls as part of the Test Operations team.

The role requires a B.S. in engineering or mechatronics, plus hands-on experience with LabVIEW, NI hardware, and PLC programming. U.S. citizenship and security clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• S. degree in engineering or mechatronics from an accredited program.
• Experience with electrical control systems in large facilities is preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and sustain electrical machinery and control systems for wind tunnel operations.
• Provide safety-focused measurement, control, and distribution capabilities.
• Serve as technical point of contact for electrical and controls issues.
• Develop requirements, schedules, budgets, and statements of work for repairs.
• Analyze systems, track reliability, and maintain records and configuration control.
• Collaborate with technicians, using LabVIEW and NI hardware to troubleshoot.
