Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to climb wind turbines of approximately 90 meters.
  • Ability to work at heights and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to utilize CMMS.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required safety certifications, including GWO and TerraForm Power training requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on wind turbines and Balance of Plant equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC components.
  • Diagnose equipment issues using SCADA systems, diagnostic tools, and technical documentation.
  • Complete maintenance documentation using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Perform equipment inspections and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
  • Assist with medium- and high-voltage switching activities after receiving required qualifications.
  • Support maintenance and troubleshooting of substation and Balance of Plant equipment.
  • Maintain inventory records and assist with parts management.
  • Operate company vehicles, tools, and specialized equipment safely.
  • Follow all Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage and emergency response activities.
  • Travel between TerraForm Power's Hawaii wind facilities as operational needs require.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Wind Technician is responsible for the safe operation, inspection, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of utility-scale wind turbines, Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment, and associated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems. The position supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) requirements.

This position may be filled at the Wind Technician Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 based on the successful candidate\'s education, certifications, technical knowledge, demonstrated competencies, and relevant work experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on wind turbines and Balance of Plant equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC components.

Additional Responsibilities For Higher Technician Levels May Include
  • Performing advanced diagnostics and complex troubleshooting.
  • Leading major component replacements and outage activities.
  • Monitoring contractor work.
  • Mentoring and training less experienced technicians.
  • Recommending improvements to maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.
