Job description

Title: Maintenance Pipefitter Trainee
Location: East Alton, IL

Salary: $40.92/hour. Upon successfully completing a one-year Maintenance Pipefitter Trainee program, individuals may move into a Maintenance Tech Pipefitter classification at $41.80/hour.
Schedule: Straight days (during training program)

Maintenance Pipefitter Trainee Essential Functions*:

  • Repair and replace pipes and hydraulic lines, make hydraulic hoses, and install new piping on various equipment.
  • Rebuild cylinders and pumps.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and powered tools.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including lockout/tagout and wearing required PPE.

Maintenance Pipefitter Trainee Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Minimum two years industrial pipefitter-related education at a Vo-Tech Program; OR
    • Equivalent Military experience.
  • Related experience within a Maintenance Technician, Millwright, Welding, and/or Carpentry environment is preferred.
  • Experience in operating heavy equipment such as tractors and overhead cranes is preferred.
  • Must be willing to go through training programs for other trades such as millwright and welding.
  • Position requires climbing ladders, working at heights, and entering confined spaces.
  • Flexibility to work other schedules, weekends, and forced overtime.

Location-Specific Requirements:

  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
