Title: Maintenance General Machinist Trainee
Location: East Alton, IL

Salary: $39.74/hour. Upon successfully completing a one-year Maintenance Machinist Trainee program, individuals may move into a General Machinist classification at $41.80/hour.
Schedule: Straight days (during training program).

Maintenance General Machinist Trainee Essential Job Functions:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and disassemble/reassemble machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Machine parts as needed.
• Assist with process improvement and initiate change.
• Use a variety of hand tools and manual lathes/mills.
• Adhere to all safety requirements including lockout/tagout and wearing required PPE.

Maintenance General Machinist Trainee Position Requirements*:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Minimum two-year Vo-Tech program, such as Machine Tool Operations, Industrial Machinist, or an equivalent program (degree completion by May 31, 2025); OR,
  • Minimum of two years of related General Machinist shop experience
• Experience must include work on manual conventional lathes/mills, boring mills, machine shop equipment, and repair work.
• Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces and lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as a forklift, tractor, crane, and backhoe preferred.
• Strong math and blueprint reading.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be flexible to work other straight shifts, rotating weekly shifts (midnights, afternoons, days), weekends, and forced overtime.
