Winchester - Maintenance Electrician Trainee

Title: Maintenance Electrician Trainee
Location: East Alton, IL

Salary: $43.18/hour. Upon successfully completing a one-year Maintenance Electrician Trainee program, individuals may move into a Journeyman Electrician classification at $45.88.
Schedule: Straight days (during the training program).

Maintenance Electrician Trainee Essential Functions*:

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical panels and components.
  • Performs changes and repairs on lights and fixtures throughout the plant.
  • Replaces sensors/electric eyes and electrical interlocks.
  • Uses various hand tools as well as electrical and pneumatic tools.
  • Adheres to all safety requirements, including lockout/tagout and wearing required PPE.

Maintenance Electrician Trainee Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Minimum of two years of education in an electrical-related Vo-Tech program; OR,
    • Minimum of two years electrical-related military experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Position requires climbing ladders, working at heights, in various weather conditions, and extreme temperatures, as well as lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • The following experience is preferred:
    • AC/DC motors, analog and digital controls, AC inverter drives, solid-state DC drives, instrumentation devices, and programmable controls.
    • Ability to read electrical schematics.
    • Operating heavy equipment, such as forklifts, tractors, cranes, and backhoes.
  • Flexibility to work other schedules, weekends, and forced overtime.

Location Specific Requirements:

  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
