Job summary

Olin is seeking an Electrical Engineer Co-Op for Spring 2027 in Independence, MO. You will lead hands-on projects, drive reliability for electrical systems, and support preventative maintenance while contributing to small caliber ammunition production improvements.

The role requires a 3.0+ GPA, sophomore-year completion before rotation, and full-time availability during the term. ITAR access and U.S. citizenship are prerequisites for site access.

Qualifications

Focus

The Electrical Engineer Co-Op supports maintenance and production with reliability, design, and maintenance of instrumentation and electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role can serve as the engineering representative on small capital projects including justification, obtaining approval, ordering, and installation processes and equipment.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead a minimum of three hands-on projects throughout the term, to be defined at the beginning of the rotation based on department and business need.
  • Provide reliability leadership for instruments and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and data analysis.
  • Support maintenance in development of policies and procedures for preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements related to the production of small caliber ammunition.
What You’ll Bring
  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate Electrical Engineering degree program.
  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale at all times throughout your time at Olin.
  • An official transcript will be required each term.
  • Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.
  • Experience in ammunition and firearms with a knowledge of shooting sports industry is preferred.
  • Must have completed sophomore year (or 60 completed credit hours) prior to first rotation with Olin.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours a week during normal business hours) during rotation; Not eligible for virtual work.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with the U.S. Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
  • Independence Location Only: This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
  • The U.S. Government does not allow non-U.S. citizens onsite at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (Independence, Missouri).
  • Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
