  • Sophomore year completed (60 credits) before first rotation.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week); on-site only.
  • U.S. citizenship; no sponsorship; ITAR compliance required.

The Chemistry Lab Intern supports laboratory operations by assisting with chemical and metallurgical testing, sample preparation, data collection, and quality assurance activities. This role provides hands‑on experience with laboratory instrumentation, testing procedures, and manufacturing quality processes while working alongside experienced scientists and engineers.

What You’ll Do:
  • Assist with chemical and metallurgical analyses using established laboratory procedures and testing methods
  • Prepare samples for testing and analysis, including chemical and metallurgical specimens
  • Support laboratory testing activities utilizing a variety of analytical instruments and equipment
  • Collect, record, and organize test results while maintaining accurate laboratory documentation
What You’ll Bring:
  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering degree program
  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale at all times throughout your time at Olin. An official transcript will be required each term. Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.
  • Experience in ammunition and firearms with a knowledge of shooting sports industry is preferred
  • Must have completed sophomore year (or 60 completed credit hours) prior to first rotation with Olin
  • Ability to work full‑time (40 hours a week during normal business hours) during rotation; Not eligible for virtual work
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate’s ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with the U.S. Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
  • Independence Location Only: This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
  • The U.S. Government does not allow non-U.S. citizens onsite at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (Independence, Missouri). Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
