Job summary

Olin is seeking a Process Engineer Co-Op for an August 2027–May 2028 rotation in East Alton, IL. You will support operations, maintenance, and safety initiatives, leading at least three hands-on projects and driving lean manufacturing improvements in ammunition production.

Eligible students must be enrolled in Chemical Engineering with a 3.0+ GPA, have completed sophomore year, and be available to work full-time during rotation. ITAR access and DOJ/ATF vetting are required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate Chemical Engineering degree.
• GPA 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale; official transcript required each term.
• Experience in ammunition or firearms preferred.

Title: Process Engineer 6-Month Co-Op (August 2027 - May 2028)

Salary: $30.00 / hour

Focus: The Process Engineer Co-Op supports operations, maintenance, and safety teams in manufacturing excellence goals. This includes continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. This role can serve as the engineering representative on small capital projects including justification, obtaining approval, ordering, and installation processes and equipment.

What You'll Do:

• Lead a minimum of three hands-on projects throughout the term, to be defined at the beginning of the rotation based on department and business need.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements related to the production of small caliber ammunition
• Collect, process, and communicate data to support engineering projects and process improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

What You'll Bring:

• Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate Chemical Engineering degree program
• Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale at all times throughout your time at Olin. An official transcript will be required each term. Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.
• Experience in ammunition and firearms with a knowledge of shooting sports industry is preferred
• Must have completed sophomore year (or 60 completed credit hours) prior to first rotation with Olin
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours a week during normal business hours) during rotation; Not eligible for virtual work
• This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
• This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with the U.S. Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
