Power Drive Supply is seeking a Winch Truck Operator to join our scrap and equipment hauling team. This traveling role focuses on safe, efficient, high‑volume transport using a winch truck and trailer, with daily load counts as a priority.
Responsibilities include pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, load securement per DOT standards, timely deliveries to scrap yards, accurate paperwork, and clear communication with the Foreman to keep operations smooth.
As a Winch Truck Operator at Power Drive Supply, you will play a critical role in our scrap and equipment hauling operations. This is a traveling position where you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-volume transportation of scrap material using a winch truck and trailer. Your primary focus is to maximize daily load counts while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism to support overall team production goals.
Safe & Efficient Load Hauling: Safely and efficiently haul the maximum number of full-weight scrap loads daily. This includes arriving on time, properly positioning the winch truck and trailer, loading material, securing loads per DOT and company standards, and completing timely deliveries to the assigned scrap yard.
Site Positioning & Quick Turnaround: Position the trailer for optimal loading speed, work closely with the on-site crew (Torcher, Fluid Labor, Forklift, and Foreman), minimize turnaround time, and maintain professional communication to keep the loading process flowing smoothly.
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Perform thorough daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain the winch truck and trailer in safe operating condition, keep equipment clean and organized, and report any issues promptly to prevent breakdowns and ensure full DOT compliance.
Load Documentation & Communication: Accurately complete all required paperwork, obtain scale tickets, document loads, maintain clear communication with the Foreman regarding load status, ETAs, and any issues, and ensure 100% compliance with logging and reporting requirements.
Efficiency & Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to increasing daily and weekly haul volumes by identifying opportunities to reduce turnaround times, sharing best practices, participating in team huddles, and supporting crew training when needed.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record.
At least 2 years' experience with CDL.
Proven experience operating winch trucks, flatbed trailers, or similar heavy equipment in a scrap, construction, or hauling environment.
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service, load securement, and safety procedures.
Ability to consistently perform physical work in all weather conditions.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and ownership over results.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to travel during the week.
