A leading wildlife center offers a competitive internship for Veterinary Technician students, providing hands-on experience with various animal species in a high-stress environment. Interns will assist in medical procedures, learn critical care techniques, and develop skills in wildlife rehabilitation over a flexible 10-week period. The role demands professionalism and the ability to work in emotionally challenging situations.
This competitive position is offered to only a few students during each session. Students are expected to have completed their final coursework - this is hands-on externship that is required by degreed programs.
During the session you'll have an opportunity to work with a wide variety of different species, we admit approximately 200 different species every year. Our center is a very high stress, high caseload hospital - we're the busiest wildlife hospital in the world. You'll be working around catastrophic injuries and will witness euthanasia daily.
You'll work alongside our vets and vet techs and learn radiology, hematology and critical care for ICU patients. It is some of the most intense hands-on experience with wildlife you can have.
We have a wide variety of people working and volunteering at the center. You'll be around people from all ethnicities and backgrounds. Acceptance of this is vital to your success in our program.
