Job summary

The State of Maine invites applications for a Wildlife Resource Biologist in Sidney to support the Wildlife Division's regional operations. The role involves planning wildlife assessment activities, conducting habitat- and species-focused research, and collaborating with internal and external partners to protect Maine's natural resources.

Qualified candidates will have a Biology/Biology-related bachelor's degree and at least two years of related field or laboratory experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Fisheries or Wildlife Management, or related field required.
  • Two years of progressively responsible related laboratory or field research/management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior wildlife biologists in planning and coordinating wildlife assessment activities and research.
  • Perform research, investigation, analysis, and monitoring of species and habitats to support planning and management.
  • Interact with biologists, professionals, and groups to monitor habitats and populations.
  • Establish partnerships with internal and external agencies to advocate for fish, wildlife, and ecosystems.
  • Summarize data using standard statistical procedures and provide recommendations to the Resource Biologist.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide scientific and technical support for programs and stakeholders.
  • Consult with senior staff to mitigate impacts of development on wildlife and habitats.
