Job summary

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Maine Ecological Field Office in Orland, ME seeks a Fish and Wildlife Biologist. This position is within the Maine Field Office, Ecological Services, and co-located with the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery.

You will collaborate to promote conservation, analyze biological data, and manage complex projects under the Endangered Species Act and the Federal Power Act.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates and builds productive internal and external relationships on conservation matters.
• Communicates technical subjects clearly to diverse internal and external audiences.
• Negotiates with project proponents and agencies to protect and conserve wildlife resources.
• Develops and monitors complex projects from cradle to grave using established processes.
• Evaluates data to determine effects on threatened or endangered species.
• Coordinates and leads Endangered Species Act and Federal Power Act activities.
• Prepares written reports based on literature and investigations.
• Assesses implications of actions on trust, rare, candidate, proposed, or endangered species.
