Job summary

Hilcorp Energy Company in Texas is seeking a wildlife operations assistant to support ranch management, assist with surveys, feeder maintenance, and support guest services during hunting season.

This role requires flexibility to be on-call, work holidays and nights, and contribute to safety and confidentiality while protecting assets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with wildlife operations as assigned
  • Feed, monitor, check on cattle as directed
  • Fill and maintain corn and protein feeders
  • Assist with wildlife surveys for deer, quail and other wildlife
  • Scoring and aging white tailed deer on the hoof
  • Scout and pattern white tailed deer
  • Set up hunting and blind locations as assigned
  • Utilize video equipment and cameras to capture wildlife and record data to ranch database
  • General post-harvest duties including skinning and cape preparation
  • Guiding hunts and assisting with guest services
  • Assist with maintenance and management of water systems
  • Application of herbicides and associated equipment
  • Maintenance and upkeep of ranch equipment and facilities
  • Heavy equipment operation and maintenance (tractors, skid steers, backhoe's)
  • Fence construction, repair, and maintenance
  • Assist with any and other ranch activities as assigned by Wildlife or Ranch Manager
  • Reports directly to Wildlife Manager with oversight by Ranch Manager

Other Job Responsibilities

Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.). Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential. Contributes to completing short and long-term goals cooperatively with co-workers. Ability to work holidays, weekends, and nights during hunting season.
