Job summary

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission seeks a Fish and Wildlife Technician to join the Northeast Region at Triple N Ranch and Bull Creek WMA in Osceola County. You will help restore habitats, perform prescribed fire and vegetation control, and support data collection at hunter check stations.

You will operate heavy equipment, assist with infrastructure, and require a Class A CDL within 270 days. Residency within 25 miles is required; background check and safety training apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 1 year of wildlife/environmental-related experience preferred.
• Associate degree in wildlife, fisheries, environmental or related field may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Must obtain a State of Florida Class A CDL within 270 days of appointment.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform maintenance/repairs.

Responsibilities

• Restore and enhance habitats at Triple N Ranch and Bull Creek WMA.
• Apply prescribed fire (~12,000 acres annually) and manage vegetation treatments.
• Assist with habitat improvement for key species (red-cockaded woodpecker, bobwhite, deer, turkey).
• Operate and repair area equipment and vehicles; help with roads, trails, and infrastructure.
