Job summary

Pheasants Forever, Inc. and Quail Forever seek a Wildlife Biologist to implement Farm Bill programs and provide technical assistance on private lands within Illinois. The role collaborates with NRCS, IDNR, and partners to promote enrollment and habitat management.

Strong knowledge of wildlife habitat and prescribed fire is required. You will work with local PF/QF chapters, meet stakeholders, and help coordinate trainings and outreach activities across districts.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wildlife ecology, grassland, wetland and early succession habitat management; ability to use habitat management tools in plans.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with federal Farm Bill programs (WRP, CRP, SAFE, EQIP, CSP) and their implementation.

Responsibilities

• Provide wildlife habitat technical assistance to landowners, agencies, and organizations.
• Develop and communicate program requirements; conduct site visits to determine eligibility and draft contract documents.
• Review plans for feasibility under Farm Bill contracts; advise on mid-contract management and status reviews.
• Provide on-site landowner technical assistance for conservation practice implementation.
• Coordinate trainings and tours for landowners and resource professionals.
• Collaborate with PF/QF chapters to support habitat education and outreach.
