Wildlife Education & Engagement Program Specialists

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is seeking three (3) Engagement Program Specialists (Conservation Program Coordinator II) for its Wildlife Education Division. These are home-based positions responsible for facilitating and coordinating education efforts within specified districts. The districts are:

  • District 1: Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrell, Washington
  • District 4: Blande, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland
  • District 5: Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Granville, Guilford, Lee, Orange, Person, Randalph, Rockingham

The primary purpose of this role is to develop and maintain relationships with staff and the community to promote educational programs such as Hunter Education, Boater Education, Fishing Skills, and other conservation initiatives. Responsibilities include scheduling and facilitating programs, recruiting and training volunteers, assisting in program development, and evaluating program effectiveness. These positions require daily travel within the district and occasional overnight stays, with the expectation that employees reside within or are willing to relocate to the district. The positions are full-time, employment type, and are not applicable to seniority level. They are essential for advancing the agency’s mission to conserve wildlife and engage the public in outdoor recreation and conservation efforts.
