Job summary

Woodland Park Zoo is seeking an Animal Keeper to join our Animal Management team onsite in Washington. You will provide daily care, monitor animal health, maintain records, and support preventive health care under veterinary supervision.

You’ll engage guests with conservation messages, participate in training and enrichment, and assist with exhibits and moves as needed. A bachelor’s degree in life sciences and zoo experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences field is required and two years of professional animal care experience.
• AZA facility experience preferred.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in varied environments.
• Must live and work in Washington State and have a valid WA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals, including cleaning, diet preparation, feeding and habitat maintenance.
• Assess health, behavior and welfare and report any issues to management and veterinary staff.
• Maintain accurate records of observations, diets, medications, and training progress.
• Support health care, preventive treatments, and veterinary support activities.
• Collaborate with teams across departments to ensure high-quality care and guest experience.
• Deliver conservation messages through guest interactions and keeper talks.
• Assist with exhibit repairs, animal moves, and design projects as needed.
• Develop proficiency across multiple animal areas to ensure coverage.
