Job summary

National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) is seeking a Wildlife Biologist to support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the ESP program in a 20-hour-per-week, part-time role in Burbank.

The wage is $30.00 per hour, with enrollment under a temporary 1,040-hour program. Qualifications include a minimum of 10 years of applicable experience or a BA/BS in biology; a Master's degree is preferred with additional experience.

For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. This position is funded for 1,040 hours.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Relevant work experience in biological fieldwork, wildlife monitoring, or natural-resource program support may substitute for formal education, particularly when paired with prior training in survey methods, data management, or regulatory reporting. OR BA/BS Degree in biology, wildlife biology, ecology, or a closely related natural-resources field. Masters preferred with minimum additional experience of 10 year(s) in Biological work

Duties

The position supports core biological program functions by completing required reports, organizing data and shared documents, and assisting with coordination across the complex. Work also involves collaborating with staff during weekly check-ins to ensure timely progress on biological and administrative tasks.

  • Physical requirements: This position requires regular walking over uneven or rugged terrain and extended outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The role may also involve carrying field equipment, standing for long periods, and working in remote areas with limited shelter.
