The State of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in Aberdeen, WA invites applications for the Wildlife Area Assistant Manager role (Biologist 2). The position leads habitat, wildlife, and recreation projects across the Olympic-Willapa Hills Wildlife Area, reporting to the Wildlife Area Manager as needed.

The role requires experience in wildlife habitat management, strong field and data analysis skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Five years of professional experience in fish/wildlife/habitat management or research.
  • A Bachelor's degree in wildlife management, wildlife biology, wildlife ecology, natural resource science, or environmental science.
  • And One year of professional experience in fish/wildlife/habitat management or research.
  • A Master’s or Ph.D. in wildlife management, wildlife biology, wildlife ecology, natural resource science, or environmental science.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, performs, or assigns management activities and studies on wildlife, plants, and habitat on wildlife areas.
  • Assesses populations of target wildlife and habitat conditions for Wildlife Area management activities.
  • Assist with development, implementation and update of Wildlife Area Plans and associated habitat, restoration and recreation plans.
  • Operate and maintain wildlife area facilities, infrastructure, equipment and capital assets.
