The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) seeks 14 Fuels Crew Members (WFMT) for the Arcadia District in Deer Park, WA. Crew members work year-round on fuels reduction projects and seasonal wildfire suppression, rotating as needed between the 22-person fuels crew and a Type 5 Brush Engine.

This field-heavy role requires NWCG Firefighter 2 qualification, a high school diploma or GED, physical fitness, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent or ability to obtain a GED within 12 months of hire.
• Trained to NWCG “Red Card” qualification level of Firefighter 2.

Responsibilities

• The Fuels Crew members will work on a 22-person fuels reduction crew completing hazardous fuels reduction on priority project sites.
• During the fire season, operate as a Wildland Firefighter on a Type 5 brush Engine in the Arcadia District for initial attack.
• When not on wildfire incidents, participate in training, studying, reviewing incidents, or other duties as assigned.
