Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Land Conservation Steward to manage prescribed and wildland fire operations, monitor invasive species, and assist with preserve maintenance across central Florida including Tiger Creek Preserve and other properties. The role emphasizes hands-on land management, safety, and teamwork.

Based at Tiger Creek Preserve, you’ll work with a team to protect and restore uplands and wetlands, support outreach events, and maintain equipment and facilities, with flexibility

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent; field science training a plus.
• Experience in land management or related field preferred.
• Ability to operate a range of field equipment safely and effectively.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends as needed.
• Must obtain/maintain required licenses and safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in prescribed and wildland fire operations on preserves and partner lands.
• Monitor and manage invasive non-native species with integrated pest methods.
• Assist with pre/post burn prep, mop-up, patrols, and data collection.
• Supervise volunteers or interns as needed without staff.
• Maintain good teamwork and adapt to variable field conditions.
• Manage records and conduct routine reporting.
