Job summary

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service, seeks a Wildland Fire Dispatcher to support fire suppression and emergency response operations. The role coordinates responders through a communications center, using radio, telephone and computer systems.

Occasional travel is required, and incumbents must live within 30 miles of Bryceville headquarters. A high school diploma and 1 year of related experience are required, with a valid Class E license.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or its equivalent and one year of experience in radio-teletype operations, sworn law enforcement, dispatching, forestry, firefighting or other public contact work.
• College education may substitute 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for the required experience.
• Requires possession of a valid class E driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch crews to wildfires, smoke complaints and other incidents using radio, computer and telephone.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of locations and status of personnel and equipment.
• Coordinate with state, federal and local agencies for wildfire suppression and emergency response.
• Prepare and maintain administrative records and SOP documentation.
• Respond to emergencies and perform related duties as assigned.
