Job summary

USDA Forest Service in the United States is seeking a Fire Dispatcher to support suppression activities. The position is on a fire crew within the fire management organization and requires readiness for travel and remote duty locations.

The role is temporary, full-time with background checks and drug testing. Eligibility includes US citizenship and other federal requirements. Training and orientation will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• GW-04: six months general experience AND six months specialized experience OR two years of relevant education with courses in forestry, agriculture, range management, natural resources, or wildland fire science.
• Examples of General Experience include farm/ranch labor, landscaping, volunteer park/fire dept work.
• Examples of specialized experience include dispatching tasks, processing equipment and personnel requests for wildland fire.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a fire dispatcher in support of fire suppression activities.
• Be part of a fire crew as a crewmember within the fire management organization.
