Job summary

The Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) seeks a Fire Captain at the Ely Industrial Shop, supervising a wildland fire module with firefighters and directing prevention, suppression and rehabilitation efforts. Under the Battalion Chief, you will train and evaluate staff and ensure incident readiness.

You must hold NWCG Firefighter I (FFT1) and a Single Resource Boss qualification at hire and maintain them throughout employment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in fire science or closely related field with three years of firefighting experience.
• High school diploma and four years of firefighting experience.
• One year as a Firefighter II in Nevada State service.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train a wildland fire module with multiple firefighters.
• Plan and implement wildfire suppression, prevention, and rehabilitation activities.
• Lead ICS command and coordinate regional wildfire operations with partners.
• Respond to fires, floods, and other emergencies.
• Maintain equipment readiness and perform safety inspections.
• Provide on-the-job training and evaluate staff performance.
