Job summary

The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for a Forest Officer at the BIAK training center in Powell Butte, Oregon. This permanent, full-time position is represented by AFSCME and does not require membership in the Oregon National Guard.

You will provide leadership to wildland fire suppression crews, act as Incident Commander on complex incidents, and ensure engine readiness while performing prevention and suppression duties and related maintenance.

Qualifications

• Four seasons in wildland fire suppression.
• One season of wildland fire suppression.
• Must pass the arduous Work Capacity Test.
• Must be 18 years of age and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to fire suppression crews as a Wildland Fire Captain.
• Serve as Incident Commander and guide engine crews.
• Administer fire prevention statutes and ensure engine readiness.
• Perform duties to suppress and extinguish wildfires and conduct maintenance.
