Job summary

Jefferson County's Planning & Zoning Division seeks a Permit Technician & Wildfire Mitigation Coordinator to review permits, determine fees, issue permits, and coordinate WUI/WRC and building requirements. You will be the primary public interface, answering complex inquiries and explaining code interpretations related to wildfire mitigation and zoning.

The role supports essential public services and infrastructure with a hybrid schedule (Mon-Thu, four days).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Land Use, Planning, Urban & Regional Planning or similar
Minimum one year experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

Receive inquiries by telephone and in person, providing information based on knowledge of Division activities and building codes and permits.
Assist contractors, homeowners, and the public at the front counter; respond to inquiries regarding building codes, Defensible Space Permitting, Wildfire Urban Interface and building permits.
Process permits by reviewing for adherence to regulations; evaluate land use and development proposals; ensure proposals are within zoning regulations.
