Job summary

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking a Horse Wrangler (Motor Vehicle Operator) to support the Wild Horse and Burro program across multiple locations in California, Idaho, and Wyoming. You will handle, care for, and prepare WH&Bs for adoption, including loading, unloading, and safe transport with various trailers.

Responsibilities include operating trucks up to 32,000 lb gross vehicle weight, assisting in corral work, public engagement, and ensuring safety and welfare under CAWP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Receives WH&Bs from trucks and correlates with the corral system, ensuring safe handling during unloading.
• Operates up to 36-foot horse trailers and other motor vehicles to haul WH&Bs as assigned.
• Rides and handles saddle horses to control WH&Bs from horseback for gathers or care.
• Performs basic maintenance and seeks assistance for major repairs as needed.
• Interacts with the public and adopters as part of the WH&B program.
