Job summary

The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater is seeking dedicated Wig Crew members to join our production team. The Wig Crew handles maintenance, styling, and application of wigs for all performers, requiring excellent styling skills and collaborative spirit.

Work closely with Hair and Makeup staff, attend rehearsals, assist with quick wig changes, and ensure that safety and hygiene standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Previous wig styling experience in theater, film, or TV preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hair styling techniques and products.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle quick changes during performances.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as production schedules require.
  • Physical ability to lift and move wig cases and styling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain wigs and hairpieces before each performance.
  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on wigs to keep them in excellent condition.
  • Apply and secure wigs and hairpieces on performers before performances.
  • Remove wigs after performances and store properly.
  • Assist performers with wig-related issues during performances.
  • Work closely with Hair and Makeup Supervisor and designers to achieve desired looks.
  • Attend technical and dress rehearsals as required.
  • Communicate wig-related issues to the team.
  • Be present during all performances to support wig changes and touch-ups.
  • Ensure wigs are ready for quick changes during performances.
  • Assist with other hair and makeup tasks as needed.
  • Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols when handling wigs and hairpieces.

The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater is
seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Wig Crew members to join our production team. The Wig Crew is responsible for the maintenance, styling, and application of wigs and hairpieces for all performers. This role requires excellent hair styling skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to ensure that each performer’s appearance is consistent and meets the artistic vision of the production.

Responsibilities
  • Wig Preparation and Maintenance:
  • Clean and maintain wigs and hairpieces before each performance.
  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on wigs to ensure they remain in excellent condition.
  • Apply and secure wigs and hairpieces on performers before each performance.
  • Remove wigs and hairpieces after each performance and ensure they are stored properly.
  • Assist performers with any wig-related issues during performances.
  • Work closely with the Hair and Makeup Supervisor and designers to achieve the desired look for each character.
  • Attend technical rehearsals and dress rehearsals as required.
  • Communicate any wig-related issues or concerns to the appropriate team members.
  • Be present during all performances to provide support with wig changes and touch ups as needed.
  • Ensure all wigs are ready and prepared for quick changes during performances.
  • Assist with other hair and makeup tasks as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols when handling wigs and hairpieces.
  • Ensure all wig-related tools and materials are sanitized and stored properly.
