Job summary

Sight & Sound Theatre is seeking a Wig Assistant to help build and style wigs and facial hair for productions. You will ventilate wigs, alter purchased wigs, attach lace fronts, and assist with fittings and show builds under the Wig Design Lead.

Candidates should have theater wig experience or cosmetology training, strong styling skills, basic hand sewing, and a team‑oriented, service‑minded attitude. This on‑site role supports the production schedule and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience building wigs and facial hair for stage characters is desirable.
• Proficiency ventilating wigs, altering purchased wigs, attaching lace fronts, and working with film lace fronts; styling updos; salon experience with client interactions is helpful; basic hand sewing skills needed.
• Experience in styling, cutting, and coloring hair.
• Strong styling skills and ability to copy styles and follow creative design instructions.
• Strong people skills and providing excellent customer service (cast) with teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Cutting and styling wigs, recreating styles and designs at the direction of the Wig Design Lead, adding ornamentation and headpieces.
• Ventilating wigs, alter purchased wigs, add lace fronts, work with purchased facial hair, create and style mustaches and beards.
• Be responsible for maintaining paperwork and documentation to support team processes.
• Help the team achieve timeline goals for show build tasks.
• Able to maintain excellent quality and workmanship, follow standard operating procedures, and be teachable and open to learning new interpersonal and task related skills.
• Assist with fittings and alterations for cast, and complete major wig repairs during show run.
• All other duties as assigned.
