Job summary

5V Video in the United States is seeking a Wi‑Fi Architect to own the design, characterization and tuning of in-home gateways, routers, and mesh products across the product life cycle.

You will lead the definition of Wi‑Fi architecture, coordinate with product teams and chipset partners, and build lab setups to simulate real home environments for robust testing and optimization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in networking and wireless.
• Expert knowledge of 802.11 Wi‑Fi standards (6/6E/7) and IP protocols.
• Hands-on testing, validation, or characterization of Wi‑Fi performance.

Responsibilities

A leading global media and connectivity provider is hiring a Wi-Fi Architect for its home Wi-Fi team. You’ll own how their in-home broadband gateways and mesh products are designed, characterised and tuned. The work spans the product’s whole life, from specification through lab testing to fixing issues customers hit in the field.

What you’ll do

• Design and define Wi-Fi architecture and product specifications for customer premises equipment (gateways, routers, mesh and extenders)
• Tune Wi-Fi radio parameters and build metrics that prove the customer experience has improved
• Build lab setups and test strategies that recreate real home environments and traffic models
• Lead engineering investigations: reproduce, root-cause and resolve defects found in the lab and in the field
• Work with product, development and chipset or vendor partners on requirements and testability
• Work with tooling teams to get the most out of test automation for new features
• Lead projects and share your expertise across the team

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years in networking and wireless, with expert knowledge of 802.11 (Wi-Fi 6/6E/7) and IP protocols
• Hands-on experience testing, validating or characterising Wi-Fi performance
• Scripting ability (Python or similar)
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills

Nice to have

• Consumer CPE, broadband or DOCSIS/cable modem experience
• Load and performance testing tools (e.g. IxChariot, iPerf, octoScope)
• Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread or other home networking protocols
• Experience in highly automated test environments
• Data analysis tools for turning test results into insight
