Job summary

You will perform setup, run production, monitor quality, maintain logs, and coordinate with maintenance and management. The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, the ability to work in a team, and the stamina to stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; two-year technical degree preferred.
• Two or more years slitting experience preferred.
• Good mechanical ability.
• Ability to use rulers, gauges and calipers.
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions with moving equipment.
• Effective communications and interpersonal skills to work as a team member.
• Ability to work independently and make good decisions without constant supervision.
• Well-developed work habits to ensure smooth machine operation and minimal downtime.
• Proficiency with computers; ability to learn and use additional programs.
• Ability to distinguish differences between finished product and product specifications.
• Ability to identify maintenance needs and ensure preventive maintenance is performed.
• Ability to lift products up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work standing for long periods; other physical demands include climbing, crouching, bending, reaching, stooping.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate wide-web equipment to meet quality and productivity requirements.
• Ensure equipment runs according to operational standards.
• Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
• Ensure correct raw materials are processed.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following safety policies and reporting hazards.
• Make machine adjustments during production after visual inspection.
• Take responsibility for quality and quantity produced.
• Log production data into computer systems and logs.
• Record all required testing accurately.
• Communicate daily with management, maintenance, shift staff.
• Maintain housekeeping standards around equipment.
• Perform packing and material handling tasks as required.
• Adapt to changes and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Participate in CI process and teamwork to drive improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
