Job summary

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Full-Time Nutritionist 1–3 for the District 4 WIC Program in Griffin, GA. The role includes nutritional assessment, education, and counseling to individuals and groups, serving Spalding, Lamar, Pike, and Upson counties.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or related fields, with the 3rd level requiring registration and licensure. Bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred and may add to starting salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management or a closely related field and verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
• Two years of experience at Nutritionist 1 or equivalent; or two years of experience at Dietitian/Nutritionist 1 level as required for Nutritionist 2.
• Nutritionist 3 requires three years of related experience or two years at Nutritionist 2 level and is to be registered and licensed.

Responsibilities

• Assesses nutritional needs and develops dietary-care plans with counseling.
• Consults with physicians to determine dietary needs and restrictions.
• Advises clients and families on nutrition principles and food choices.
• Counsels individuals and groups on healthy eating and nutrition monitoring.
• Develops policies for food service or nutrition programs to promote health.
• Develops curricula and teaching materials for nutrition education.
• Plans and evaluates breastfeeding promotion strategies.
