Job summary

Harbor Health is seeking a part-time WIC Nutritionist to provide nutrition services to WIC applicants and participants in Boston, MA. The role is 20 hours per week with a full benefits package.

Under supervision of the senior nutritionist, you will perform anthropometric data collection, dietary assessment, counseling, documentation, and referrals, while contributing to educational materials and outreach. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, Foods and Nutrition, or Nutrition Education.
• Master's degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, or Food and Nutrition preferred
• Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or licensure with the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Dietitians and Nutritionists preferred
• One year of experience in clinical or community nutrition preferred
• Demonstrated leadership and decision-making capabilities
• Excellent communications skills
• Interest in nutrition and maternal child health
• Bilingual Spanish or Haitian Creole desired

Responsibilities

• Provides nutrition care to high-risk women, infants and children under senior supervision, including anthropometric data collection, dietary assessment, nutrition risk assessment and food package prescription.
• Nutrition counseling and education for breastfeeding and general nutrition.
• Documentation and data entry, referrals to other health and social services, and follow-up nutrition education.
• Participates in planning, development and evaluation of educational materials and group nutrition education sessions.
• Assists in training paraprofessional WIC staff and conducting quality assurance activities.

Role: The Program Nutritionist provides nutrition services to WIC applicants and participants. Position is Part Time - 20 hours week and offered with a full benefits package.

Responsibilities:

• Provides nutrition care to high-risk women, infants and children under the supervision of the senior nutritionist, including all aspects of:
  1. Anthropometric and hematological data collection
  2. Dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment and food package prescription
  3. Nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education
  4. Documentation and data entry
  5. Referrals to other health and social services
  6. Follow-up nutrition education
• Participates in planning, development and evaluation of:
  1. Educational materials and group nutrition education sessions
  2. Participant counseling and education strategies
  3. Nutrition in-services and outreach activities
  4. Nutrition policies
• Assists senior nutritionist in:
  1. Training paraprofessional WIC staff
  2. Conducting quality assurance activities
• Communicates with health care community on issues pertaining to participant needs.
• Provides nutrition care for low-risk applicants and participants as needed.
• Assists in the training of WIC Program Assistants.
• Participates in quality assurance activities.

Requirements:
