Job summary

Bmsfamilyhealth is seeking a WIC Nutrition Assistant in New York to assist nutritionists and coordinate education activities. You will gather data for nutrition assessments and support breastfeeding initiatives in a busy WIC program.

Responsibilities include issuing non-medical food packages, referrals to health and social services, and weekend availability. Apply your clinic skills, customer service, and bilingual abilities where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; post high school education preferred.
• One year of experience working with children and families.
• Computer skills required; knowledge of NYWIC preferred.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work with diverse public and availability to work on weekends.
• Bilingual is a plus: Spanish, French or Creole

Responsibilities

• Assist WIC Nutritionists and the Nutrition Coordinator in implementing nutrition education activities.
• Collect information for nutrition assessment, including anthropometric and hematological data.
• Participate in breastfeeding promotion and support.
• Issue food packages that do not require medical documentation as prescribed.
• Provide referrals to health and social services and document follow-up.
• Identify and refer participants to a Qualified Nutritionist.
• Assist in planning and evaluating participant-centered nutrition education.
