Job summary

Community of Hope is seeking a WIC Nutrition Assistant to provide nutrition and customer support to WIC participants, including health screenings, education, and referrals. This is a full-time on-site role based in Washington, DC at the Conway Health & Resource Center.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in a medical office or WIC-related duties, strong written and oral communication, and completion of WIC paraprofessional training within one year.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• At least one year of experience working in a medical office or equivalent duties in a WIC setting.
• The ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to establish rapport with individuals and small groups.
• Successful completion of WIC paraprofessional training within one year of appointment.
• Proof of vaccinations or accommodation request consideration.

Responsibilities

• Provide WIC Program participant services including scheduling appointments and updating demographic data.
• Conduct initial health assessments and provide basic nutrition education and referrals.
• Ensure nutrition assessments include diet, health goals, and food package tailoring.
• Collect data for certification and growth charts as part of the HANDS system.
• Deliver participant-centered nutrition education in individual and group settings.
• Document participant contacts to ensure continuity of care and progress tracking.
• Refer participants to Nutritionist or CPA when beyond routine scope of practice.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
