Brief Job Description
Performs highly advanced (senior level) consultation, approval, and technical assistance for the Texas WIC Certification Specialist (WCS) program. Responsible for program implementation, planning, development, and oversight, including review, approval, and training of the program.

Essential Job Functions (EFJs)
(35%) Provides senior level consultation and technical assistance to Local Agency WIC directors and Registered Dietitian preceptors on WCS program requirements. Reviews applications, conducts orientations, and facilitates support sessions.
(25%) Offers expert consultation, interpretation of policies, and participates in developing processes and training curriculum to ensure compliance and enhance nutrition counseling.
(20%) Evaluates educational programs, develops surveys, and monitors WCS functions to ensure quality and compliance.
(15%) Advises local agencies on formula use for special needs, manages certification processes, and reviews academic credentials.
(5%) Performs additional duties including disaster response activities and operational support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of public health nutrition, proficiency in MS Office, excellent communication skills, leadership in meetings, policy interpretation, counseling, policy development, project management, problem-solving, and consensus building.

Certifications
Registered Dietitian

Initial Screening Criteria
Experience in developing policies, overseeing nutrition initiatives, training curriculum development, and providing nutrition counseling to adults.

Additional Information
Preferred experience with WIC clinics, internal applicants encouraged, salary considerations, and application tips.
