Job Summary
The Wi‑Fi Engineer is responsible for integration and performance testing of Wi‑Fi gateways, extenders, home security devices, and other managed Wi‑Fi clients. The role includes developing and executing test strategies and plans, collaborating with product and development teams, and documenting testing processes.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Technical experience working with Wi‑Fi / RF in computer architecture and data communications.
- Experience with wireless technology testing (APs, routers, extenders, 802.11b/g/n/ac/ax/be).
- Knowledge of real‑world wireless environments.
- Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6, Ethernet, DHCP, DNS, ICMP, ARP, NAT, bridging, switching.
- Familiarity with industry‑standard Wi‑Fi test tools (Veriwave, IXIA Chariot, Wireshark, Omnipeek).
- Background in secondary home networking technologies (Bluetooth, Zigbee, MoCA, Matter, DOCSIS Ethernet).
- Familiarity with RF chambers (Octoscope, Lindgren, Candela).
- Knowledge of data science tools, scripting, and programming.
- Strong background in designing or extending test frameworks.
- Excellent troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of UNIX‑based systems and command‑line tools.
- Experience with full product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test strategies and plans for Wi‑Fi products.
- Create test cases from customer requirements and file defect reports.
- Meet testing and release schedules in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
- Co‑create, maintain, and evolve test plans and automation scripts.
- Participate in issue triage and troubleshooting.
- Document processes and ensure effective communication with peers and management.
