The Wholesale Transportation Underwriter is primarily responsible for underwriting business through appointed wholesale brokers with a broad focus across many industries.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
3+ years of Commercial Auto underwriting experience; transportation underwriting experience is preferred
Experience with rating fundamentals
Experience working with wholesale brokers is preferred
Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.
High energy self-starter, resilient with an entrepreneurial spirit
Solid time, organizational, and desk management skills
Goal-oriented with a focus on delivering outcomes
Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win
Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills
Position title and level will be determined after careful review of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Location:
This position offers a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates living near our posted office locations (Alpharetta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Creve Coeur, MO; Frisco, TX; Greenwood Village, CO; Hartford, CT; New York, NY; Omaha, NE; Overland Park, KS; San Francisco, CA; Scottsdale, AZ; Troy, MI) are expected to work in-office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates not near an office will work remotely, with occasional in-office visits as needed.
Compensation
The listed annual base pay range is based on external market analysis. Actual pay may vary depending on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. The base pay is part of The Hartford’s total compensation, which may include bonuses, incentives, and recognition. The pay range for this role is:
$101,200 - $192,000
The salary range reflects potential variation depending on background and experience.
