Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking an Excess Casualty Wholesale Underwriter to support the wholesale market with speed to market and pricing expertise. The role emphasizes building profitable relationships with brokers and managing risk within delegated authority.

Qualified candidates have at least eight years in excess and surplus, strong math and negotiation skills, and a track record with wholesale partners. Hybrid work is available with some travel requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of relevant experience or the equivalent.
• Equivalent experience is considered twelve years of relevant commercial insurance experience.
• Knowledge of Excess and Surplus is required.
• Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis concepts for pricing.
• Ability to creatively utilize coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance on risks.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and produce profitable business within authority and company goals.
• Maintain agency relationships and develop new relationships with wholesale brokers.
• Adhere to underwriting guidelines, processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate risk using applications, inspection reports, loss data, and financial information.
• Communicate information clearly in spoken, written, and electronic forms.
• Engage with distribution to market capabilities and identify opportunities.
• Use metrics and data to improve territory performance.
• Perform other tasks as needed.
